Graphic Designs Created to Advertise Non-Profit Events
In recent years, I've created graphic designs that the St. Andrews Society and the Spokane Highland Games Assoc. have used in advertising for the Robert Burns Night Supper and Dance and the Spokane Scottish Highland Games. They appear below. If I have time, I'll create something for the Spokane Fall Folk Festival and submit it to their graphics design competition.
St. Andrews Society of the Inland Northwest's
Robert Burns Night Advert In 2023, I created the advertisement that you see here for the St. Andrews Society of the Inland Northwest. The ad ran in the Spokesman-Review newspaper. Although the event was only a partial sellout, it did very well, and everyone appeared to enjoy themselves. |
Spokane Scottish Highland Games Poster & T-shirt Design
In 2022, the Spokane Highland Games Association ran a design contest, and the committee selected a design submitted by a local elementary school student. The association's chairperson asked me to take that design and refine it for use by the association on their posters and T-shirts. Here are the final designs and the original design below. By the way, the SHGA sold every T-shirt at the 2022 Scottish Highland Games. |
Spokane Fall Folk Festival Poster
To the left is the poster that the students of Mrs. Koch's 5th-grade class at Summit School in the Spokane Valley created for the 2019 Fall Folk Festival poster competition. Although we didn't win, the kids did well against the nine competitors. There were seven entries from North Idaho College's graphics design class and two professional entries. I want to congratulate and thank the 5th graders who participated. Every class member created a personalized leaf. One young lady drew the tree, and another drew the polar bear (a rather "cool" accompanist, don't you think). A young man had the inspiration for the wolf, and yet another young lady inspired the musical notes wafting into the sky. I helped pull their ideas together, and the poster was the result. |
Robert Burns Night Dinner & Dance Flyer
Candidly, I drew inspiration for the accompanying Robert Burns Night flyer from a concept I saw elsewhere on the web and then expanded on it. I loved the humorous ending, and the visual elements quickly encapsulated all the aspects of our Burns Night Dinner & Dance. Quickly and easily understood. |
